#toast

Did you know, that toast was invented in epic duel between George Washington and Ole Abe Lincoln for the place of the first President of the United States?

There wasn't such a point in history known as "Year of Toast Invention". It looks like toast appear in the world as soon as people invented fire, bread and tryed to join them together a little bit longer, than it was needed. But, if you want a date, it happened nearly 6,000 years ago. The Egyptians found, that bread left out in the dry heat become almost inedible. So, first toast was invented as a way to preserve bread.

Later on, toasting become popular in Roman Empire.  Also, The word 'toast,' in fact, comes from the Latin word tostum, meaning scorch or burn. That was Romans, who brought toast to Britain and all through europe. And then colonist bring it to the Americas.
Today nearly 88% in the US have a toaster. Toast become really important part of breakfast.

Toast is most commonly eaten with butter or margarine spread over it.
The popular toast topping are also jam,  marmalade and Nutella. Someone add honey or fruits as helthier choice.

Kids could also enjoy soft-boiled egg with toast soldiers. The soldiers, which are strips of toast are dipped into the runny yolk of a boiled egg and eaten.

There is some special things to be enjoed with toast, such as Marmite in the UK, New Zealand and South Africa. Marmite is made from yeast extract, which is extremely salty. It's taste is reflected in the British slogan: "Love it or hate it."
